Change Process: (self-reported)
The overall program is based on beliefs and material endorsed by the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors. There are structured courses lasting up to 28 weeks as well as other additional assignments. Individual and group counseling is a weekly requirement.
The men are first confronted with the reality of their situation and then through the course work, group dynamics of residential living and individual counseling are provided the solutions by which they can change their lives for the better.
The men live in double rooms and share all the duties of maintaining their living environment. The facility is under 24 hour supervision of a successful graduate of the program.
As the men realize the truth of their addiction, they are introduced to scriptural truths of who God is and who they are in relation to God.
Also, participation in ongoing work projects either in the community or as a part of the larger ministry allows the men to interact with others whose lives are being conducted in a more positive and mostly Christian manner. These projects also give the men the sense of accomplishment and a chance to build self esteem.
The men are encouraged to initiate their own projects and to oversee others in the accomplishment of these projects.
It has been proven over the years that as the men grow in their spiritual maturity, move further away from the triggers that led them to addiction, and become more involved with others that they will leave the program with an excellent chance of living their lives as God intended.
Finally, for those with families the interaction with the family on a controlled basis is encouraged so that each man can deal with any negative issues within the family and begin to build positive, Godly relationships that will become a solid base once he leaves the program.
