Note many of our girls have a history of running away and of participation in illegal activities. Some are so hurt that they need help beyond what we can offer except briefly.
Measure
Staff observation and Juvenile Court records
Outcome 2
100% of participants who are in residential care during the school year will attend school or alternative education programs. 70% will make satisfactory progress (C average) Note many have had a history of truency so this is an important change for them.
Measure
School records.
Outcome 3
100% of participants will become and remain drug free.
Measure
Drug tests mandated by Juvenile Court and by our programs, observation, participant self reporting. The girls know if they tell us they slipped and need help we can work with them but if they test positive and have not asked for help the court court will sentence them.

Change Process: (self-reported)
Girls come to us hurt, broken, resentful, fearful. Many have nightmares, some are self abusive. Many are victims of abuse. Most have Juvenile court records for serious delinquency. Some have never known a stable home. 6-8 girls at a time live in the residence. Staff at residence is volunteer including our Youth Program Director who is am employee at the Youth Detention Center. Many of these volunteers are program graduates. All residents also take part in L.A.M.P. Community Youth Program. The first step is realizing they are in a safe place. Basic hygiene comes next. Girls also receive medical and mental health care as needed. Gradually they come to cooperate in household activities and chores. L.A.M.P. and other community agencies also reach out to the families with the hope to create a safe home to which the girls can return. We work closely with the schools and also offer one on one mentoring and tutoring. Gradually the home group comes to be a substitute family and the participants begin to incorporate values as their own. As they succeed in school and other activities and are treated with love and respect accompanies by firm limits they come to see themselves as people who have hope of success and to be able to set and achieve goals for themselves.
