Board Activities

  • Formally reviews the performance of the chief executive officer at least once every two years.
  • Formally approves the budget.
  • Ensures that arrangements with outside fund raising firms are made in writing.
  • Receives information about the financial arrangements with such firms and, if applicable, the anticipated portion of the gross proceeds that goes to the organization.
  • Receives, at least quarterly, the organization's financial statement.
  • Receives, at least annually, an auditor's management letter and report.
  • Convenes an audit committee.

Outcome 1
Youth participants will experience and realize the intrinsic rewards and significance of as well as the necessity and need to serve others and their community as followers of Jesus Christ.

Measure
Participate in monthly structured service learning experiences during the “school year” and three during the summer months.

Following each service activity, LITs will participate in guided reflection exercises led by a facilitator and keep a journal of their thoughts, insights, questions, prayers, etc.


Outcome 2
Youth will desire to be positive role models among their peers and younger children.

Measure
Providing leadership for high school age peers attending Senior Camp

Working directly with children ages 8-13 attending Tall Turf's Youth Empowerment Programs.

Providing assistance and/or leadership for at least one youth program in addition to Camp Tall Turf


Outcome 3
Youth will acquire life and career applicable skills in teamwork, problem solving, project management, and market research by learning how to start and operate a small business.

Measure
Plan and provide leadership for at least one group activity or project per month

Oversee the development, implementation, marketing, promotion and management of a small business such as a “camp store” and/or other enterprise.


Outcome 4
The importance and value of pursuing a higher/post-secondary education and planning for a career will be realized by LIT youth participants.

Measure
Visits to area colleges to learn about admissions requirements and procedures; financial aid; academic programs; and more.

Guest speakers representing various careers will be scheduled throughout the year.

Youth will engage in a process of analyzing, discovering and begin developing their gifts and talents.

To the extent possible, LITs will have the opportunity to job shadow at least one person who matches their career interest.

Youth will understand and be able to articulate the difference between having a job and having a career.

Youth will recognize and understand the importance of seeking and discerning God's calling for them.

Leader In Training participants learn to guide, support and develop the desire, commitment, knowledge and skills needed to effectively serve, inspire and guide others to make positive choices and become active servant leaders for others and in their communities for the sake of Christ.

LITs begin to recognize and utilize service and leadership skills and become equip for and confident in their future plans (College of career).
