Harvey House is a free Christian-based residential eighteen month program for men with histories of drug and alcohol addictions and criminal backgrounds. Through Bible studies, devotionals, and counseling, men gain an understanding of Christian doctrine, rebuild family relationships, discover their gifts and learn to disciple others. The program is divided into three phases. During Phase One, residents are not allowed visits or phone calls, with the possible exception of family members. The residents are given responsibilities from their first day, including classes, work, prayer and even exercise. They help in Restoration Ministries' other outreach programs including our after-school programs — Homework Help & Tutoring, Boxing Club, Chess Club for kids, Friday Night Basketball program - and our food pantry. AIn addition, all men are required to work an eight hour day in one of our two Thrift Stores. In Phase Two, the residents get mentors who walk with them in every area of their lives. Residents are permitted an overnight pass every other weekend and are encouraged to seek restoration with family.
Upon return, we require a drug screen to uphold our abstinence policy. In Phase Three, residents are encouraged to be leaders here, at home and at church. They get jobs and build up savings. Upon graduation, we hope to have a mature productive Christian man who can help others in the same struggle that he came from.
