Program Mission Statement: (self-reported)
MVFZ works with approximately 450 South Division, James Madison & Bay View High School students annually. These students who are considered to be “chronic disruptors” are referred with the goal of keeping them connected to their school, their family, & their community. MVFZ staff cooperate with school social workers and law enforcement officers to prevent the escalation of the youths' behavior into more high-risk/illegal activities. Expected outcomes are to reduce high school suspensions and dropouts, keep youth out of the criminal justice system, and improve the safety environment at the school.
