Outcomes & Measures: (self-reported)

Outcome 1
Participation in a loving and stable home environment:

Teens learn to accept responsibility, submit to authority, and relate effectively to peers and adults.

Because the ultimate goal of House of Hope is to enable troubled teenagers to become productive members of society, our residential program includes instruction in living skills.

Measure
As a starting point, each resident is assigned specific household duties and chores. Responsibility is earned and tested through a three month orientation and three-phase program which rewards performance and attitude of the resident during their eight month to a year and a half stay.

Detailed individual tracking ensures that each House of Hope student progresses in every area of the program. This includes individual student's documentation in every area of school, counseling, activities, and personal responsibility.

The measure of this outcome is the advancement into higher phase and eventually graduation from the program.

Outcome 2
Healing of Fractured Families-teens reconciled and restored to their parents:

Through intensive group, family and individual counseling, spiritual guidance is provided, which facilitates the healing of fractured families. Family involvement is an integral part of the renewal process and parents are required to attend parenting classes, individual counseling sessions, as well as planned family interaction nights.

Most of the teens entering into our program are unable to respond properly to authority figures and have lost any solid connection with adults. Through our counseling programs, providing adult role models and establishing loving relationships with our staff and volunteers, we are able to restore that connection and trust. They can return to their families with communication skills and the necessary family support.

Measure
The measure of this outcome is reconciliation between parents and teens. The program includes an ongoing evaluation of the teens' progress during their entire stay. The evaluation is performed by our licensed counselors using check lists, progress notes, academic records, counseling reports, testimonies and required parent reports.

During our annual reunion of all graduates and families the teens are given a progress evaluation.

We keep records of former residents and surveys concerning the graduates and families and make contact through our mailings.

Outcome 3
Spiritual Growth:

House of Hope Orlando's goal is to have each resident and parent leave the House of Hope program having a relationship with Jesus Christ and the tools to make the right choices as they enter adulthood.

Measure
For the past 23 years every teen who has been through our program knows Jesus Christ. Most our teens have been filled with the Holy Spirit and have learned and operated in their spiritual gifts.

The work accomplished at House of Hope is based upon Biblical principles, proven to provide both workable and successful solutions in restoring troubled teens and their families and has resulted in these teens becoming solid citizens and effective, contributing members of society.

Outcome 4
Education/Increased Skills:

Each House of Hope resident attends our accredited on-campus school, Hope Academy. Hope Academy features the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) program. This program has filled in the gaps created by most of the teenagers having had poor school attendance and lack of motivation.

Measure
The measured outcome is for the teen to catch up or exceed their level of education, so that when they return to their school they can be enrolled in their correct grade level. Upon arrival, the teen is given a diagnostic test which determines appropriate placement level in each course.

The ACE program at Hope Academy has resulted in teens earning their high school diploma, transferable credits and even junior college level courses.

Outcome 5
Personal Enrichment:

Creativity & Fine Arts - We offer programs such as art, music and drama, designed with our teenagers' development in mind. The classes give youth the opportunity to use their imagination to explore and express inner most thoughts and questions without fear of judgment and ridicule.

Sports & Recreation - The teens at House of Hope participate in healthy competition in our gymnasium, working out frustration and stress. Our physical education program includes basketball, aerobics, soccer, basketball and many other sports.

Measure
The program activities and experiences provide the teens with success and enjoyment meeting the five primary areas of development: intellectual; social; emotional; physical and spiritual needs and helps them find their identity so they can fulfill their destiny. When they leave House of Hope, we find the teens are more well rounded individuals.

Change Process: (self-reported)

Teenagers who come to House of Hope Orlando are shattered, sexually and emotionally abused, drug users, in trouble with the law, involved in prostitution, rebellious, body carvers, into witch craft, have very low self-esteem, hate their parents, hate their school, and are often suicidal. House of Hope offers the refuge and healing that they, and their families, desperately need. Our program works to meet the academic, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cultural needs of each of the teenagers who enter the program.

When you have an opportunity to hear the stories from the teenagers, you quickly realize that the events in their lives leading up to coming to House of Hope have robbed them of their self worth, the ability to make good choices and a positive direction for their lives. Our programs successfully give new life, new hope and a future to these hurting teenagers in Central Florida.
