Program Mission Statement: (self-reported)

There are many different faces to poverty in South Carolina. Most of them, according to the 2000 Census, are women who are single parents living at or below the poverty level. It has been proven that a good education is the only way for these families to become fully functional and to be able to break the cycle of poverty. The mission of Anderson Interfaith Ministries' Women and Children Succeeding Program (WACS) is to provide daycare and supportive services to less fortunate mothers trying to return to school. This very comprehensive program provides case management to each family based on their individual needs. Childcare is the number one barrier that impoverished families face when trying to return to school. If they lack childcare, they cannot take advantage of a free education and the entire family could be stuck in poverty for good.
