Change Process: (self-reported)

American Heritage Girls assists community agencies in offerring a small glimpse of hope to children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or tragedy. AHG collects personal care and comfort items, specific to a child's age, and provides HUGS bags to community agencies, who in turn provide these bags to children in need. Often when children are removed from their homes, they are unable to take any personal items. A HUGS bag gives children a homemade blanket, stuffed animal, toys, activities and toiletry items in an effort to give these children a small sense of normalcy during a difficult time. AHG often hears stories of foster families who have taken in a child who recieved a HUGS bag. These families talk about how important these few items became to a child as they transitioned into a new living arrangement.
