Program Mission Statement: (self-reported)
The goal of Transformational Development for Haiti is to empower rural communities through spiritually, socially, environmentally, agriculturally, and economically viable systems of development. The spiritual and social segment of the program aims to strengthen the bonds of community, create cooperative relationships, and encourage a change of behavior and lifestyle. In addition, this segment helps people become self-sufficient by taking responsibility for their own problems and working collectively to solve them. The environmental and agricultural portion focuses on healing the scars of deforestation through training in agroforestry, tree grafting, seed storage, erosion reduction, restoration of soil fertility, and reforestation. The economic segment aims to create microcredit and savings systems to help poor farmers lift themselves out of poverty.
